Sanchez also has developed into a consistent kicker, hitting six of six PATs and adding a 25-yard field goal against the Buffaloes to finish the night with 21 total points.''

DE LEON–"It was an old-school defensive slugfest Friday night in De Leon, where the Bearcats outmuscled the visiting Santo Wildcats to upset the No. 21 team in the land, 9-0.

It might not have been the most thrilling game by modern standards, but De Leon (4-0) earned every bit of it to remain unbeaten, holding Santo (2-2) to just 95 yards of total offense and forcing three turnovers while going 3-for-3 on field goals from 38, 22 and 29 yards.

Meanwhile, Santo’s veteran defense held De Leon to 148 yards and Destin Montelongo hauled in an interception, but it wasn’t enough for the ‘Cats to overcome their offensive struggles.

Montelongo also led the offense with 54 yards rushing on 11 carries as well as Santo’s 1 yard passing.

Both teams ran fewer than 40 plays in the defensive showdown – 38 for De Leon and 33 for Santo.

Santo will look to rediscover its offensive groove when the ‘Cats return home next week for a homecoming matchup against the 3-1 Ponder Lions of Class 3A-DI."
