1st Bearcats Scrimmage Reports...

by Bonecrusher » "I think you were running a different D than what we expected and it threw our offense off for a good portion of the night. We definitely struggled at times trying to move the ball. 2nd half of the scrimmage we got our short passing game going and that helped, but were it an actual game, might have been a little too late. I mentioned it before on another thread that we graduated a lot of talent on both OL & DL and it showed last night. Lots of missed assignments. We will have to work those bugs out with some of new starters. Also a lot of dropped passes on our end.

On the other side I think our defense did pretty well vs. Deleon offense once we got the adrenaline/nerves out of the way, but could have done better. The 20+ mph tail wind early on hurt you guys with a lot of overthrown balls. Thank goodness, because a few of those would have been 6 for ya'll. Our D did a good job of keeping you guys out of the end zone late in the night when you were really close.

Overall it took us a while to get going, and I don't know if we really ever hit full stride, but Deleon came out ready from the start. Seems to be a trend that we don't typically do as well as we could in the 1st scrimmage. I hate to admit it but I would have to give DeLeon the edge for the night. A noticeable improvement over last year for you guys.
Good luck this season. Who knows, maybe we'll see you again in the playoffs......"
