Riordan scores school-record 108 points in easy victory

Riordan basketball coach Joey Curtin had a good feeling his team would show well closing out the nonleague season on Friday night.
    He never expected a school-record 108 points.
The third-ranked Crusaders, who have a rich basketball tradition that dates back to 1950, had 13 players score, including six in double figures, led by Bryce Monroe’s 16 points, in a 108-28 home win over winless Lynbrook-San Jose.
Chris Balingit hit one of his team’s 11 three-pointers, this one with less than three minutes remaining, to push Riordan’s total to 104, bettering the school mark of 103 set in 1980 over Serra. The only other game in which the Crusaders scored at least 100 points was in 1987 against Mitty.
