Menlo-Atherton’s Troy Franklin lives up to hype as top football recruit

The first time Troy Franklin read the words last fall, he had to look twice. Three times. And he still couldn’t believe it.
Those words: “No. 1-rated California football player in the class of 2021.”
“It was a crazy feeling,” said the 6-foot-2, 180-pound sophomore receiver and safety, whose Menlo-Atherton team plays Lincoln-San Diego in the CIF state Division 3-AA championship Saturday. “I didn’t know what to say or do.”
So, he did what came naturally. He told his mom, DaNesha Fuller.
“She told me she was very happy for me,” Franklin said. “She followed it up and said I would have to work even harder to stay there.”
    Fuller is no hard driver.
