Half Moon Bay football adjusts perfectly to PAL’s top league

Of the 88 teams alive in the North Coast, Central Coast and Oakland section football playoffs, nine have perfect records.

    Of those — Encinal-Alameda (11-0), Milpitas (10-0), McClymonds-Oakland (10-0), Half Moon Bay (10-0) and Marin Catholic-Kentfield (9-0) — are from the Metro Area.

From those, none has been more impressive than 16th-ranked Half Moon Bay.

With a 28-man roster, the two-time defending Central Coast Section Division 5 champions were elevated this season to the Peninsula Athletic League’s top level, the Bay Division.

A longtime small-school power, the Cougars had been elevated three times before with little success: two wins and 13 losses.
