De La Salle pulls away from Monte Vista to keep streak alive

For a half, it looked as if Monte Vista-Danville had a shot at ending De La Salle’s 25-year unbeaten streak against Northern California opposition.

The second-ranked Mustangs were down just a touchdown late in the first half Friday night, driving toward the tying score at Owen Owens Field.

Niamey Harris rushed and passed for a touchdown as the Bears (6-4, 5-0) clinched the Academic Athletic Association regular-season title at Kezar Stadium.

Lincoln (5-5, 4-1) closed to 12-7 on a short TD run by Josiah Calvo-Martinez in the second quarter, but a third-quarter injury to QB Roel Marania slowed the Mustangs.

After Cardinals quarterback Jordon Brookshire raced 10 yards for a touchdown and the PAT was successful, Rancho Cotate quarterback Jake Simmons found AJ Vallejos for a 10-yard TD pass, but his pass attempt for the two-point try was incomplete.

#4 Clayton Valley Charter-Concord 50, #8 Campolindo-Moraga 15: A 28-7 lead at halftime gave the host Eagles (9-1, 5-0 DAL-Valley) the advantage and they never looked back en route to beating the Cougars (7-3, 4-1) and claiming a DAL-Valley Conference title.

Glen Cotton’s 9-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run broke a 27-27 tie and clinched the Tri-County Athletic League-Rock Division title for the host Gauchos (7-3, 4-1).

Siua Tongamoa’s two fourth-quarter TD runs helped the Dons (7-3, 3-2) clinch a second-place finish in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division and a playoff spot.

Carlos Gomez ripped off a 57-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the game, and the Grizzlies (8-2, 7-1) never looked back in their East Bay Athletic League win over the Wolves (6-4, 5-3).
