The Frost Bank Center is one of the most electric arenas in the NBA. It’s especially true this season with the San Antonio Spurs playing at an elite level and the first-year, European-style supporters’ section known as, the Jackals, leading the cheering from the stands.
But can Spurs fans be even louder?
It’s a goal Spurs phenom and NBA MVP candidate Victor Wembanyama is challenging them to reach. On March 26, Jackals president Aidan Sterling posted a message they received from their indirect contact with The Alien. The Jackals heard Wemby wanted their high-energy effort to spread to more spectators inside the Frost Bank Center.
“Spurs fans who attend games, what can we do better that would make you all want to join us in our cheers and chants?” Sterling asked. “Wemby wants us to get the FBC as loud as it has ever been, so how can we convince you all to help us reach this goal?”
“[Wemby’s] goal from the start was to create that European environment where the energy does not stop,” Sterling told MySA during a recent interview. “He doesn’t care if [the refs] are reviewing a call or the ball is out of bounds. He wants that energy. So, that's what we're trying to build toward.”
Since the start of the season, Sterling has seen the Jackals’ impact on the overall enthusiasm inside the arena grow. Now, with the playoffs right around the corner, they want to ensure Spurs fans are at the top of their game.
