Texans place Ryan Griffin on injured reserve, designated for return

The Houston Texans have placed tight end Ryan Griffin on injured reserve, designated for return.

Griffin injured his knee while diving for a pass with a little over five minutes remaining in the game.

Griffin had one reception for 18 yards and would not return to the game.

By placing him on reserve/injured with designation to return, Griffin is not eligible to practice for the next six weeks and is not eligible to play for eight weeks.

The Texans began training camp with six tight ends on the roster, but Griffin is the third to be injured and another, rookie Khari Lee, was traded to Chicago before the season began.

Houston did sign undrafted rookie free agent tight end Eric Tomlinson to their practice squad just before the regular season began.

Tomlinson spent training camp and preseason with Philadelphia, where he caught six passes for 64 yards in four preseason games with the Eagles.
