Wylie moves up to 5A in reclassification

The University Interscholastic League released the cut off enrollment numbers for classifications today, and for the first time in school history, the Wylie Bulldogs are moving up to the second biggest classification.
The Bulldogs leave 4A which they've dominated for the last 20 years in the region and are going to be in Class 5A, Class 5A Division II in football.
Head football coach Hugh Sandifer says it's exciting, but their are challenges coming their way.
"We get to play teams that we've never really played before on a regular basis," Coach Sandifer said.
"It'll be an opportunity for our kids to step up their game because we are going to be playing bigger schools every game, so it's exciting to have fresh faces."
"On the flip side, when you are the small guy on the block, we are the fourth smallest 5A in the state, that'll be a challenge," Sandifer said. "We knew this day was coming. Our kids are excited, working hard for this. Hopefully, we can take our game, in whatever sport it is, to the next level."
There is no telling what district the Bulldogs are going to be in for the next two years in football.
They will most likely be in the same district with Cooper in every other activity.
