    Warren's Wisdom:Playing a 3OT game

David Robinett said, "It's time for Warren's Wisdom. We're going to stick with high school football and we're gonna talk about Wylie's game that happened last Friday. Back and forth game all night long, triple overtime, all kinds of excitement. What's it like being in a game like that?"
Steve Warren said, "Oh my goodness. You're running on adrenaline because you put all you had into four quarters. Somebody had to come from behind to tie it down the stretch. So, there are all kinds of emotions. You get a renewed sense of this is a brand new game. Everybody gets excited, again. It's pretty intense for however long you have to play."
Robinett said, "When you win or lose that game, it's got to be hard to come back from that game. You have to come back down, or you have to get yourself back up. How does that process work for the next game?"
Warren said, "What you've got to do that night is let the kids feel whatever emotion that it is they are feeling. When they come back to the fieldhouse the next morning or whenever it is, that one's in the books and you've got to move on, and as a coach, you've got to really implant that into your players because in their case, huge district rivalry. Brownwood/Wylie, it's always that way. It's always a crazy game regardless if the teams are really good, or not. Both coaches have got to put that one to bed, win or lose, and they've got a district game to play this Friday."
Robinett added, "Not easy to do, right?"
Warren answered, "Not easy. It's diffucult, but you have to. I put that on the coaching staff and the position coaches to make sure that those guys are looking to do what they've got to do this week as opposed to looking back."
Robinett said, "Wylie and Brownwood continue district this week.
