    Open week successful for Coogs

Head coach Todd Moebes and his Cougars are coming off their open date, and they are ready to start district play with a 4-1 record.
The plan was for the starters to go up against each other quite a bit last week, so they could keep their timing. That's what happened, and coach Moebes says his team got in some good work in their week without a game.
Cooper head coach Todd Moebes said, "I felt good about it. Our kids responded to practice well. I thought they practiced hard. I thought they conditioned hard on Friday. I am pleased and I thought we got better as a football team. To have the opportunity to compete for an eleventh game is something that is very, very special, so it comes to these last five weeks."
The Cougars are hitting the road for the start of district 4-5A play on Friday. They take on Monterey in Lubbock at 8 p.m.
