    3 Cowboys named preseason All-Americans

    MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Hardin-Simmons' football team had three players named to the preseason D3football.com All-America team that was released on Tuesday.



    Alex Bell was named to the first team as a return specialist. The senior from Midland led the nation a year ago with three touchdowns and he also averaged 37.6 yards per kickoff return. He also averaged 13.8 yards per return on 11 punt returns and had 43 catches for 683 yards and nine touchdowns.



    Junior Reese Childress was named to the second team. He led the Cowboys with 67 catches for 1,230 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He is an Abilene High product.



    Sophomore Jonathan Castaneda was named to the second team as an offensive tackle. He was the first lineman in American Southwest Conference history to be named the ASC freshman of the year in 2016. He is from Abilene Cooper.



    The Cowboys were picked No. 12 in the preseason D3football.com poll and went 9-2 and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the second straight season in 2016. HSU opens fall practices on August 17.
