    OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES

    OFFENSIVE

Belhaven senior forward Nicolas Cornejo (Santiago, Chile / St. Gabriel's School) lifted the Blazers to victory against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. Cornejo's third goal of the season was the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to defeat the Crusaders … East Texas Baptist senior midfielder Joel Ramirez (Lindale, Texas / Lindale HS) collected three goals on the week as ETBU went 1-1 with a 3-1 win over Howard Payne and a 4-3 loss to Rhodes College. He had one goal against HPU and two against Rhodes. Ramirez pulled ETBU within two in the 53rd minute with his first goal of the match and then put ETBU within one in the 70th minute, 4-3 … Hardin-Simmons defender Tanner Coffin (Farmer's Branch, Texas / Dallas Jesuit) scored the game-winner in both games, including a header in overtime on a corner kick to beat Ozarks less than a minute into the overtime. Coffin gave the Cowboys the lead with a penalty kick four seconds before halftime against Texas-Tyler. Coffin also helped lead a defense that allowed just one goal on the weekend … LeTourneau junior forward Israel Madrid (Conroe, Texas / Longview HS) scored both goals in a 2-2 tie with Rhodes College on Friday afternoon. The second goal came just in time with only seven minutes remaining in the game. Madrid also had an assist in the victory over Jarvis Christian on Wednesday night as he flicked a ball on to freshman Nate Berlandier who put it past the goalkeeper … McMurry freshman midfielder Javi Mejia-Escalante (Azle, Texas / Azle HS) notched the game-winning goal in the 14th minute versus Texas-Tyler, giving McMurry its first win over the Patriots since 2002. It was Mejia-Escalante's only shot attempt of the match … Univ. of Ozarks sophomore forward Sean Garcia (Fort Worth, Texas/Central HS) scored his third goal of the season Saturday. Garcia has scored all three of his goals in the last three matches … Texas Dallas freshman forward Alfredo Kaegi (Frisco, Texas / Heritage HS) scored twice as the Comets downed UC Santa Cruz (3-1) Sunday night in UTD's home opener. Kaegi tallied twice in the first half, giving him a team-high three goals on the season as the Comets wrapped up non-conference play.

The team allowed only 14 shots and eight shots on goal total to two of the best teams in the conference going into the weekend … LeTourneau junior midfielder Hunter Swift (La Marque, Texas / Santa Fe HS) was the anchor on a defensive unit that won and tied two games this week. Swift led the back line and was crucial in both the win 2-0 over Jarvis Christian and the 2-2 tie with Rhodes College. Without his effort winning multiple 50-50 balls and one-on-one matchups the results would not have been the same for the YellowJackets … Univ. of Ozarks junior goalkeeper Luis Mena (Haltom City, Texas / Haltom HS) recorded his first shutout of the season after Ozarks tied McMurry 0-0 Friday … Texas Dallas freshman defender Brad Rivenes (Sugar Land, Texas / Clements HS) sparked the Comets' back line to a 3-1 win over UC Santa Cruz Sunday night in UTD's home opener.
