Stamford Needs New Starters To Step Up

Out here at Stamford the Bulldogs cannot wait to step out onto the field and get the season started. Now Stamford has had a lot of success in recent years, with back to back state titles in 2012 and 2013, so they're itching to go back and claim another. But this season, the Bulldogs are facing a whole other opponent: a lack of returning starters

"We've been trying to work on our leadership and unity as a team coming back togehter," junior offensive lineman Caden Mathis said.

"We're piecing each position back together because we had a lot of people lost. But at the same time we have a bunch of leaders stepping up, not only seniors but juniors and sophomores stepping up to fill that role."

Coach Ronnie Casey said, "they just want to take care of business the best they possibly can, thats all that we can ask of them as coaches. Believe it or not, the guys that left left a lot of legacy and left a lot of leadership roles and these guys are trying to step in there and fill those spots."

"We had a lot of good people leave last year but they left a really good impression for us smaller guys to take in and we're really trying to hold our own," junior defensive lineman Jared Muehlstein said. You can expect we'll go hard and go fast, better be ready for us, and we're getting out there and getting ready to play under those Friday night lights."

"I'm just looking forward for a new beginning for these guys so they can set their own identity, and for the Stamford folks to be ready to support the Bulldogs," Coach Casey said.

So for now the Bulldogs are just ready to get back under the Friday night lights and see where the season takes them.
