    HSU Names Scholar-Athlete Medal Recipients

    ABILENE, Texas - Baseball player Colson Craddick and women's golfer Kara Doege have been named as Hardin-Simmons University's 2015-16 Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Recipients.



    The award is presented to one male and one female member of the graduating class who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics and leadership over their collegiate career. The award is presented annually by the Faculty Athletics Representative at each conference member institution.



    Recipients of the 2015-16 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor represent 15 different conference sports and include individuals who graduated with academic honors, hold admission to graduate-level programs, are members of academic honor societies and campus organizations; competed on national, conference or division title teams; earned ASC All-Academic, Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and All-Conference honors; and who served as volunteers, tutors and mentors within the campus and the community.



    Craddick, a native of Lubbock graduated in three and a half years with a degree in exercise science and is working on a master's degree in kinesiology and sport management. A four-year starter for the Cowboy baseball team, Craddick has been named an honorable mention All-ASC selection three times and was named third team all-conference in 2016. He is the team captain and is active with Special Olympics.



    Doege, a Monahans native, was a four-year starter and significant contributor to the Hardin-Simmons golf program. She was named All-American scholar three times by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) and is a three-time academic all-ASC selection. Doege is active on the campus with the SAAC Committee and Special Olympics.
