    HSU's Williford And Cook Honored By ASC

    RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis had seven players and its head coach all honored by the American Southwest Conference in the yearly awards.



    Junior Shayne Cook was named the ASC West MVP after going through league play 5-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. She helped lead the Cowgirls to the ASC West title and to the semifinals of the ASC Tournament.



    Junior Jasmine Briant was the only Cowgirl named to the All-ASC team. The team is voted on by the coaches for the top player at each position and includes the east and west Division. She was the No. 5 singles selection.



    Head coach Shane Williford earned the ASC West coach of the year honors.



    Cook was named first-team all-ASC West at No. 1 singles, Briant was first-team at No. 5 singles and Kacie Berutti was first-team at No. 6 singles. Cook and Michaela Ellison were named first-team at No. 2 doubles and Briant and Laura Weinheimer were picked as the first-team selections at No. 3 doubles.



    Ellison, Jenna Smith and Hannah Smith were named second-team all-ASC West at No. 2, 3 and 4 respectively. The Smiths were named second-team all-ASC West at No. 2 doubles as well.
