    HSU Falls To UT-Permian Basin, 7-6

    ODESSA, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 7-6 in 10 innings to Division II UT-Permian Basin on Tuesday afternoon at Roden Field in Odessa.



    Colton Parker put the Cowboys on the scoreboard first with a two-out RBI double in the first. UTPB answered with two runs in the first on passed ball and a sacrifice fly.



    HSU cut it to 3-2 in the third on a Zack de Luna RBI groundout, but the Falcons answered with three runs in the fifth. Tyler Houlihan had an RBI single, another run scored on a fielder's choice and the third on an error.



    Elijah Perez had an RBI single in the sixth for the Cowboys to make it 5-3 and HSU took a 6-5 lead in the seventh on a Jamie Ball sacrifice fly, a Colson Craddick RBI triple and a Colton Pea**** sacrifice fly. Alex Fernandez tied the game in the eighth on an RBI single for UTPB.



    The Cowboys left a pair of runners on in the top of the 10th and Houlihan had a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to score the winning run for the Falcons.



    Craddick, Perez and Parker had two hits each for the Cowboys. Four different Falcon players had two hits.



    Both teams used a bullpen by committee. HSU had nine different hurlers appear in the game and UTPB used eight. Taylor Cooling allowed his first run of the year and took the loss. Nolan Schattell worked two scoreless innings for the win for UTPB to improve to 2-4.



    The Cowboys are 15-8 on the year and UTPB improved to 10-21. HSU will host Belhaven for a weekend conference series, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 3 p. m.
