Soccer Playoffs Continue For 4 Local Teams

Boys and girls soccer teams across the state are getting ready for the Area round of the playoffs this week.

The Wylie Bulldogs are the only boys team from the Big Country that's still alive in the postseason after the bi-district round. The Bulldogs rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the second half of their game with Burkburnett to advance with a 3-2 victory. Now, head coach Chris Kincaid's Bulldogs are moving on the to the next round. They are headed to Odessa to take on San Elizario on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium.

A few hours later, the Wylie Bulldogs continue their run in the Class 4A playoffs in Odessa against San Elizario, too. The girls' game starts at 8:30 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium.

The Brownwood Lady Lions are one of the biggest surprises in the second round of the playoffs. The girls entered the playoffs on a 6-game winless streak, but that changed when they beat Wichita Falls Hirschi to advance the area round. Brownwood's next game is in Wichita Falls on Saturday. They take on Borger at Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m.

The Cooper Lady Cougars are the first team into action in the area round from the Big Country. The Lady Cougars take on El Paso Jefferson Friday night at Ratliff Stadium at 6:15 p.m.
