Will SGP and Duncanville be good enough to push Desoto to D-2?

I know Duncanville now has Samples, will that push them into the playoffs?

Not with what Mansfield has coming back. DeSoto will still be D1 this year

That's a good point, Mansfield will be pretty salty, I will have to catch a couple of their games.

Yes. There is a new sheriff in town that has brought a new attitude and new players to town that will have an impact in district 8-6A. A new attitude that has not been seen at Duncanville in years nor in the two adjoining communites of Cedar Hill and DeSoto. This new sheriff being Coach Samples. He has already made a difference in the program from jr high to the high school with participation. Duncanville being the largest school in 8-6A will make the playoffs. The key to DeSoto going D2 will be SGP. If SGP continues to play as they did toward the end of last season and can win one against Chill, Dville, or Desoto then that could be enough to push DeSoto to D2. Mansfield also showed signs of improving last season is always tough at home. Chill is a lock for D2 being the smallest school in the district. So again Mansfield and SGP will have a say as to how this district will play out. 8-6A has to be the toughest district in the state with Duncanville, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, SGP, and Mansfield all fighting for a playoff spot. Will this be the year DeSoto gets pushed to D2 and escape facing those northern Eagles or will history continue and setup another classic battle of Eagles? Exciting and anxiously awaiting. Time will tell.

Mansfield will be very good this year, return a lot of players on both sides of the ball. First district game will be a good one, Duncanville @ Mansfield and is a key game for both schools. Duncanville beat Mansfield by a point last year and look for Mansfield pound the ball on Duncanville with their junior RB that will end up being one of the best in the area.

I don't think so. Not this first year. Maybe the year after. The thing is, Mansfield has to miss the playoffs. We are assuming DeSoto and Cedar Hill will be in. Duncanville making the playoffs doesn't matter. Both Duncanville AND SGP must make it. I think Mansfield will be too good. SGP is gonna be pretty good too, but that doesn't matter for the pushing DeSoto to DII angle.

True that Mansfield has to miss. Assuming Duncanville is in then it would come down to SGP & DeSoto winner. BTW Mansfield gets Duncanville, DeSoto, and Chill at home, no easy task for the visitors.
