I thought they hoped to be able to use this site to help with scholarships and took your checkbook comment as a playful jab towards the idea.

He's more than welcome in my basement or garage apartment or one of the many motels along South 1st Street where I am sure folks sleeping are rocked out of their beds every hour or so when the train roars by!

Nah, he's a good guy. Just misguided and misinformed. I'd give him the shirt off my back if push came to shove.

Oh, and I also look forward to reuniting with a certain someone and be sure to ask him how fundraising for their proposed scholarship program revealed over a year ago is coming along. Who knows, I may bring my checkbook!

I too enjoyed the evening and everyone I met treated me great!! No problem during the game, I'm much the same way during Dragon games. Your traveling buddies made sure I was never left alone. Your team and fans remind me of us in so many ways, it makes it easy to support the Eagles except of course this Friday.

I posted some of my initial thoughts about the Eagles in your team thread, but plan to do a better writeup of what I saw from your kids later in the week.

Aye, EagleDad says he tailgates (usually? always?) and I recommended a bbq restaurant to use. He said he would get with me before last week's booster club meeting. Since that didn't happen as neither of us took the initiative that day, I intend to message him and/or talk to him at the meeting on Monday to discuss my idea of using this bbq place and what he's got in mind. We owe you guys for last year's tailgate and I've always remembered it.

There will be a decent amount of AH fans at the game. My vehicle will more than likely have 4 traveling so we would love to meet up. Planning on leaving no later than 2pm so if you can recommend a good place for some grub, perhaps we can meet up there to kick things off.
I stopped in Strawn on the way and checked out Mary's Cafe for the first time. Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. The cafe and food was as good as the reporters raved about, which is why I went to it. After the game, I stopped at the nearby In N Out Burger because I had never tried them before. Good burgers and great fries, but overall I wouldn't call them special. Price was nice, though.

Now on to other issues.......are there many Eagle fans making the road trip to Pennington for the Bell game?? SLC is off this week, so I'm planning to drive over to Pennington for a little "scouting"Would be happy to meet up some of you.

Indeed, that is surprising that SAC got zero votes. Yeah, they had a tough game against Frenship, but persevered.

If you have a preference, just say so. Also, if any others want to join in, feel free to do so, including my lil innernet stalker! I am sure we could put our differences behind, shake hands and move forward!

Don't worry. Abilene is just a non-district game. The one that means something is Bell. Don't think they're anything to worry about.

Gus Johnson said that a few years back while broadcasting a Baylor game.....while he was talking about this "Hole in a wall, place you may have never heard of"....I was listening carefully so that I could try it one day.....then he said "Luby's"....I was like "Really???".....he needs to get out more.

I would but the Trinity coaches scheduled our game in Waco, so I'll be heading down I-35W about that time. Same for BB I'm sure.

In the Central Park Shopping Center directly across from Pennington on Central:

    Starbucks
    Einstein Bros. Bagel's
    Bedford Ice House..............

Boomer Jacks (like a Buffalo Wild Wings)
    Lupe's Mexican Restaurant...............

    Applebee's

A little further east on the SH 183 service road:
    On the Border

North of SH 183 on the service road East of Central:
    Papadeaux's Seafood
    Chilli's

North of SH 183 on the service road West of Central:
    Buffalo Wild Wings
    Cheddar's

SH 183 @ Forrest Ridge (one mile west of Central on the North side):
    Posado's Mexican Cafe
    Spring Creek Barbecue

There are others not worth mentioning, but these are probably your best bet of what is right around Pennington.

I don't know about a "recommendation", cause it depends on what you're going for. A safe bet would be a place like Jason's Deli I guess, but hell every time I eat there it seems like we spend $25-$30 for the three of us so it's not as inexpensive as you would think. I would stay away from Boomers cause they are always busy as hell.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The choices in Central Park Shopping Center are the easiest to get to parking at Pennington. Visitor seats are on the southern side of the stadium, with best parking on the east side of parking area, so from restaurant all you have to do cross Central and enter parking.

Let me know which sounds the best to you and about what time you expect to arrive.

Well I along with others are anxious to see just how good Mojo is this year. The amount of points scored and lack of points allowed despite their competition clearly indicates they're much better than last years version.
