    High school football: Top teams take it out on each other

    Five from The Chronicle’s Top 25 went down to defeat last week, but none left the rankings because all lost to other ranked teams.

    The biggest surprise — based on last week’s rankings — was made by Liberty-Brentwood, which jumped from 19 to 10 after a 37-35 Big Bell rivalry defeat of then No. 7 Freedom-Oakland. Liberty’s only loss this season is to No. 3 Pittsburg.

    Sixth-ranked San Ramon Valley-Danville didn’t move after its 45-14 loss to top-ranked De La Salle-Concord. Four turnovers, including three pick-6s, did in the Wolves.
