St. Pat’s advances to NorCal D4 final

Vincent-Vallejo’s North Coast Section meltdown against Lick-Wilmerding began creeping into his mind during Tuesday night’s Northern California Division 4 semifinal rematch.

[...] the Bruins kept scoring, pulling away for a 73-55 victory that puts the Bruins in their first NorCal title game in 29 years.

“It’s something we talked about,” said Walker, whose team has reached the Northern California playoffs each of the past four years but had yet to make the final before Tuesday.

    The fourth-seed Bruins (26-7) will travel Saturday to play top-seeded Palma-Salinas (26-4), which beat Central Catholic-Modesto, 64-59.

The winner of that game will play for the state title March 25.

The 5-foot-10 guard scored 11 of his game-high 25 points in the final quarter, eight during a 10-2 run that pushed the lead to 23.

Guard Marquel Johnson scored 17 for the Bruins — and made five first-half three-pointers — and Tavian Henderson added 14.

In Open Division play, 6-foot-11 center Jordan Brown had 23 points and 16 rebounds for top-seeded Woodcreek (31-2), which eliminated visiting De La Salle (28-6) for the second time in three years.

At San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, ninth-seeded Palo Alto (26-4) opened with an 11-0 run and held off St. Mary’s-Stockton in a Division I semifinal.

Ryan Parilla and Noah Conner had 16 points apiece as the Colts (27-5) beat the host Patriots (27-5) in the Division 1 semifinals.

In the final, St. Francis will host third-seeded Moreau Catholic-Hayward (24-9), an 82-66 winner over No. 15 Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa (27-5).
