Late field goal gives Utah team victory over De La Salle

Matt Barker put a 39-yard field goal dead center through the uprights with one second left to give visiting East High School of Salt Lake City a 23-21 win over De La Salle in Concord on Friday night.

De La Salle (3-1) used a series of laterals to reach midfield on the ensuing kickoff return, but Tre White’s cross-field lateral went over Kairee Robinson’s head and out of bounds to end the game.

De La Salle built a 14-3 first-quarter lead as Robinson scored on runs of 26 and 55 yards.

Jaylen Warren wasn’t a big factor on the winning drive, but rushed 26 times for 258 yards and two touchdowns for the Leopards.

Alabama commit Najee Harris carried 19 times for 301 yards, scoring on runs of 33, 19, 70, 29 and 57 yards, as the Panthers (3-1) beat the host Cougars (1-2).

Quarterback Nick Nuñez rushed for three touchdowns and a dominant defensive effort took care of the rest as the host Minutemen (3-1) defeated the Lions (2-2).

Dimitri Sakalia and Christian Wiseman combined for a sack on 4th-and-goal with 42 seconds to play to clinch the victory for the host Bears (2-2).

Will Semone (32 carries, 208 yards) scored on a 10-yard run with 1:44 left as the Mustangs (2-1) edged the host Cougars (2-2), who got three touchdown passes from Jacob Westphal.

Cornerback Albin Mollerstedt scored on a late fourth-quarter fumble return to give the Eagles (4-0) a victory at Foothill College.
