NFL, officials criticized for leaving Case Keenum in game after hard hit

Former Houston Texans quarterback Case Keenum took a hard hit on the field Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, and many people are wondering why he stayed in the game after it was clear that he had suffered a head injury.

Keenum was sacked and slammed on his head late in the Rams' 16-13 loss against the Ravens. He immediately grabbed his head and struggled to get up. Fans wondered why Keenum continued to play after the hard hit, when he clearly was not stable. Keenum was never examined or evaluated for a concussion during the game, which brings up questions about the NFL and its concussion protocol.

Keenum took another sack and fumbled away the ball to the Ravens, which led to a game-winning field goal by kicker Justin Tucker.

This year, certified athletic trainers or ATC spotters were given the authority to remove players who suffered concussions from the field.
