Houston Texans' Brian Hoyer out, T.J. Yates to start at QB vs. Jets

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer is out for Sunday's game vs. the New York Jets after he suffered a concussion in the Texans Monday Night Football win over Cincinnati.

The Texans Wednesday claimed QB Brandon Weeden off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys. The team waived cornerback Jumal Rolle to make room on the roster.

Hoyer missed practice on Wednesday because of a concussion and was considered questionable for Sunday's game.

Hoyer was injured in the third quarter of Houston's game at Cincinnati on Monday night. T.J. Yates, who was signed on Oct. 28, helped lead the Texans to a 10-6 victory.

Yates will start on Sunday. The Texans may elevate Zac Dysert from the practice squad to back up Yates.

Also on Wednesday, receiver DeAndre Hopkins missed practice with a knee injury, but he should play on Sunday. Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney returned to practice after missing Monday's game with a back injury.
