Led by a dominant performance from its defensive line, Elgin made a statement in its District 19-5A opener against Cedar Creek.
Elgin (1-2, 1-0) pressured Cedar Creek quarterback Tristan Hendrix from the start, effectively neutralizing the Eagles’ passing attack. Hendrix went 3-for-11 for 32 yards and an interception as Elgin jumped out to a 36-0 halftime lead. He did not play the second half for Cedar Creek (1-2, 0-1).
