    Coogs working to be better

The Cooper Cougars started slow on Friday night in their loss to Lubbock Monterey.
The Plainsmen jumped out to a 34-7 lead in the second quarter. The Cougars got things going in the second half and pulled to within seven points two times, but it was too little, too late.
It's just one game, but they have to turn in a better performance on Friday if they still want a shot at the district title.
Cooper head coach Todd Moebes said, "I thought yesterday's practice was as good as we've had all year long. It was physical. They were moving around very fast. They called some player led team meetings that were from their own initiative. Those are great signs being able to respond competitively, and I am proud of them for that."
The Cougars are back at home for the first time in almost a month on Friday. They host Lubbock Cooper at Shotwell at 7:30 p.m.
