Bulldogs head into district at the top

The Wylie Bulldogs entered the 2017 season as the favorites to win another district championship, and they haven't done anything to make people feel any different in the first five games of the season.
This is not an unusual place for the Bulldogs. They are trying to win their 17th district title in the last 19 years. Let that sink in. They enter every year with a bulls-eye on their back, and Hugh Sandifer's team is ready for the new season to begin.
Hugh Sandifer said, "Well I mean we're fortunate that we've got some tradition as far as in our district, but you know our kids want to uphold that tradition. They want to continue to play well, but you know we don't talk about it. This is a new team. It's the 2017 district season. This is the most important one they've ever played in. The most important one we've ever coached in, so that's the way we treat it, and you know obviously the only thing we can control is our game this week with Brownwood, and that's all we focus on. We don't talk about anything else but that."
District 5-4A Division II play starts on Friday for the Bulldogs. They host Brownwood at Bulldog Stadium. That game starts at 7:30 p.m.
