Young Eagles grow up in opener

The Eagles started their game with Central with just 4 total yards in the first half and they trailed 22-0. The second half was an entirely different story.
The Eagles put 28 points on the board and almost came back to win.
Friday night was the first varsity game for most of the team, and head coach Del Van Cox says his team grew up, a lot.
Head coach Del Van Cox said, "We are all veterans now. It was good to see those guys bounce back and adjust to the speed of the game. It's different, the speed of the game on Friday nights, and we learned a great lesson to bounce back. It didn't take the whole game to learn it. That's what I was proud of on Friday night."
Abilene High goes on the road this week.
They face former Little Southwest Conference rival Midland Lee in Midland on Friday.
The Eagles have won eight of the last 10 meetings.
