Coleman Is Last Standing From District

The Coleman Bluecats finished the regular season in third place behind state-ranked Cisco and Eastland, however they are the last team standing out of the three after two rounds of the playoffs.

Even the Coleman players are shocked that they are the final team still alive, and they say they feel a responsibility to represent the Big Country the rest of the way.

Bryson Hammonds said, "It's kind of shocking, Cisco and Eastland both beat us and hearing they got beat out of the playoffs before we did. They played some pretty great teams. Being the only 3A left in the Big Country is a big responsibility for us, we gotta go out there and win for the rest of the Big Country and not get put out in the third round."

Riley Harris said, "It's pretty crazy, I mean Cisco and Eastland I was sure they were going to keep going, but they had a tough rout in the playoffs so we're just lucky and blessed to keep going."

Hammonds said, "It's always pretty cool, you grow up watching football on Thanksgiving day, always wanting to be that guy, and now in high school it's a reality for you, you get to play on Thanksgiving, it's pretty cool. You feel real, you feel like it's prime time."

The Canadian Wildcats are next for the Bluecats on Friday.

A win puts Coleman in the fourth round for the first time ever.
