Forcing Turnovers Key in Bulldog Victory

What is the best way for a defense to stop an offense? Well, take the ball away from them. That's what the Wylie defense did on Friday night in the Bulldogs' victory over Denison.

The "d" picked off two passes and recovered three fumbles. It stops the other offense and gives your offense a short field. Those two things usually add up to victory.

"Turnovers are a huge momentum swing, and especially when you get the ball on your opponent's side of the 50, and we did that, and the great thing about our offense went out and scored," head coach Hugh Sandifer said. "They took advantage of the turnovers."

"Our defense, we take a lot of pride in our defense because I mean, we forced a lot of turnovers because we never give up on a play," Dion Novil said. "We like to rush the ball carrier a lot, so I feel like that helped a bunch."

Cameron Hanna said, "we just harped on it. Fly to the ball, get your facemask, hit the ball out and whenever it comes out make sure you get on the ball."

The Bulldogs are back at home on Friday night and the competition takes a step up. Regional power Argyle is coming to town for a 7:30 kickoff.
