    HSU Women In Third After First Day Of ASC Championships

    DENTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in third place at the American Southwest Conference Championship after the first round at the par-72, 5,881-yard Oakmont Country Club in Corinth.



    The Cowgirls shot a 321 in the first round. Sophomore Kelsie Guinn led the Cowgirls with a 79 and senior Dylan Dawson and freshman Sydney Hallmark each shot 80. Freshman Kimberley Juel had an 82 and senior Kara Doege had an 83. Guinn is in a tie for ninth place overall and Dawson and Hallmark are tied for 11th.



    Texas-Tyler leads the team race by nine shot over Mary Hardin-Baylor 297-306. HSU is third at 321, UC-Santa Cruz is fourth at 345, LeTourneau is fifth with a 348 and Concordia sixth at 362.



    Taylor Denton and Morgan Loth of UT-Tyler are tied for the medalist lead after shooting even-par 72. Emily Ming of Mary Hardin-Baylor is one shot back.



    With anticipated rain on Tuesday, the teams went ahead and played nine more holes on Monday and will try to finish the last nine holes in the morning. Those scores will not be published tonight and will be added in tomorrow.



    The winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
