Brownwood High School has found their man. Shallowater head coach Kyle Maxfield is the choice to be the new head football coach and athletic director for the district.
Maxfield was 71 and 18 in 7 seasons as the head coach in Shallowater.
He led the Mustangs to the state semifinals in 2014, and lost to the eventual state champion, Brock, last season.
Maxfield takes over in Brownwood for Chuck Howard, who resigned unexpectedly a little over two weeks ago.
The Lions went to the state quarterfinals in 2015.
The official announcement is set for Friday at noon in Brownwood.
