    Wildcats Face Oklahoma On Wednesday

NORMAN, Okla. - The ACU Wildcats hit the road for the first time in the 2016 campaign Wednesday when they take on the Oklahoma Sooners in a non-conference matchup at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Wildcats and Sooners were to have played Tuesday afternoon, but the game was moved to 4 p.m. Wednesday because of the forecast for heavy rain in the Norman, Okla., area Tuesday. Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on acusports.com.

ACU enters the game at 4-0 on the season after a season-opening series sweep of Texas Rio Grande Valley at refurbished Crutcher Scott Field. The Wildcats outscored the Vaqueros 21-10 in the four games and held their offense to a sub-.200 team batting average.

ACU head coach Britt Bonneau - now 710-398-1 in his 20th season as the Wildcats' leader - is undecided on his starting pitcher for Wednesday.

The Sooners will see a young ACU team on the field with as many as four freshmen in the starting lineup: shortstop Mark Pearson, first baseman David Ruot and outfielders Willie Harris and Hunter Markwardt.. That quartet combined to hit .259 with nine runs scored and six RBI in the four-game set.

Oklahoma - ranked as high No. 21 in the nation in the pre-season polls - is 2-2 on the season after splitting a season-opening home series against Northeastern (Mass.). The Huskies will be in Abilene this weekend to play a four-game series against Northeastern.

The Sooners look to bounce back from the loss of 11 MLB Draft picks, the most in the nation, as well their top four hitters and 110 relief appearances out of the bullpen.
