ACU Breaks Ground on Football Stadium

The ACU Wildcats are another step closer to having a new football stadium on campus.

The school held a ground-breaking ceremony just south of the location for the multi-million dollar Anthony Field Friday morning.

The Anthony family, Athletic Director Lee DeLeon and head coach Ken Collums, among others were at the school to toss the dirt and officially begin the countdown to the football team's new home.

"It's a historic day for ACU and ACU athletics, and we couldn't be more thrilled about where we are in the process," Lee DeLeon said. "Our designs are really phenomenal. I think people are going to be thrilled when they see this structure start going up."

"It'll definitely change the landscape here on campus. As you're driving along interstate 20 you'll be able to see this thing up on the hill from a good ways out which is really cool," Ken Collums said. "Just as importantly for us as coaches it's going to change the landscape of the entire Southland Conference. I mean we're going to have the classiest stadium in our league, and that's only going to help recruiting."

The Wildcats' first game at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadum is coming in 2017 against Houston Baptist.
