Already 4"'s of rain, don't forget bringing you're life jackets tonight in case the stadium decides to float down hwy 67. -
Just my opinion, SGP defense needs to focus on Wallace only and contain him (running) and they will win. DeSoto will probably start playing desperate now and that lends to mistakes they won't be able to overcome. The same can be said about Mansfield, you contend Brooks you control the game, the QB is average and the pass game is not a threat and defense is suspect. Now CH needs to clean up some things, because the offense is very young and most of these guys haven't play in a losing game since 7th grade. With that being said, sometimes being very successful for several years, what going to happen when that day comes (losing a game)? I will tell you this, this is the time of year after the CH game that Dville starts cashing it in and will be interesting to see Samples control this.Last edited by Hollywood; 10-11-2015, 04:16 PM.Leave a comment:

You don't look past anyone but the only way GP scored was by SGP putting it on the ground at their own 5 very late in the game with backups in. From what I can tell SGP used the second half to work on some things but did not pass much. So they were not running up the score. 16 yards passing for the game. My concern was keeping players healthy in a rivalry game. There is no way Chill can drop this game if they played their 2nd string, GP acually has some good size and some talented players. Too many mistakes.
SGP @ DeSoto is up next. Mansfield matched up well and took their game with DeSoto but nor so sure SGP matches up well. This game may be for the D1 top seed and the difference between a round one with Trinity or Coppell. No slam on a fine Coppell team but it would be nice to not play ET in the first round another time especially with the year they are having. This starts the gauntlet of DeSoto, Mansfield and CHill. Mansfield @ SGP. So DeSoto off a tough loss and home against SGP for the D1 seed is a lot to play for. If SGP wins any of the remaining games they are sitting very good. Big IF.
Duncanville is not out of it with GP and Midlothian to go with a home game against DeSoto to possibly decide a playoff spot. I have looked at various scenarios and that last game is big if Duncanville can win the next two.
The toughest district games are ahead for CHill. DeSoto, Mansfield then SGP.
Mansfield gets SGP after a bye then ends with CHill and Midlothian. The DeSoto win was monstrous for them.

Dville first possession they ran the ball (through the tackles) at will and march down to the 5yd line and finally the D stiffen up and settle for a FG. CH gets the ball and after a holding penalty went three and out with the snapper snapping the ball over the punters head (punter, 6'5") and through the end zone. Then run the ball down their throats to score and just like that 12-0 mid way through the 2nd qt, but CH recover and score three TD's before HT through the air. But there is a lot to work on and with GP up next, hope the players see the need in improvement considering the next opponent.

Was shocked early when it was DV 12 - 0 but I know how that can happen and then a big reversal. Looked like there was a FG and later a safety. Then an immediate run back to make it 12 - 0. But then it was a 41 - 6 run by CHill.
Safety, Ball Fumbled Out of End Zone CH fumbles out end zone. SAFETY. 10:51 left in 2nd Quarter. 5 0 1st down and 10 at DV 42 Run Alfredo Porter rush for 58 yards to CH 0. FIRST DOWN. TOUCHDOWN. (Eric Carrasco PAT KICK GOOD.) 10:31 left in 2nd Quarter.

Week 7
GP 6 @ SGP 38 -- This is the Beat North Game. Always hard fought. Always some creative referee calls. SGP wins.
Mansfield 35 @ DeSoto 21 -- Wow. Just wow. 284 yards rushing for Brooks on 32 attempts.
Duncanville18 @ Cedar Hill 41
Midlotian @ Bye
I left the SGP game at the half with SGP up 31 - 0.
Cedar Hill needs to clean some things up, to may holding calls and three turnovers will not work against the district top teams in the final three weeks.Leave a comment:

The game to watch again is with Duncanville. Will be interesting to see if Midlothian can do much against CHill.
How did they score 42 points on SGP, it couldn't have been passing. To note, they always play CHill tough at home with the last two games there being decided late in the 4th qt.Leave a comment:

District play this week. Duncanville at Mansfield. Midlothian at SGP. GP at DeSoto. The Dville-Mansfield matchup will set the stage for this districts four playoff teams. Dville on the road against an always tuff at home Mansfield squad.👍 1Leave a comment:

Agreed!!! Also in not even picking GP versus Irving. At least this week.
SGP must impress this week. Assuming just because CHill dominated that SGP will have success is not a good idea. SGP won a big game last year against a solid SOC team. It IS possible that SOC rebounds. SGP needs to start clicking. The Martin versus Skyline game will be revealing,
Ok. Now for the big game. DeSoto trying to rebound against an allstar team this week. I will go with them but this is still an upset if DeSoto can win this one.Leave a comment:

Not a good opening week for 8-6A as all but Cedar Hill lost their opening games. Cedar Hill was most impressive looking like a defending champion in mid season form against a less stellar South Cliff team. Most surprising was the play of DeSoto against Arlington Martin and how the known high scoring Eagles offense did not score until the end of the third quarter after Martin had pretty much sealed the victory. Week 2 should tell us even more about these teams and whether or not they are contenders or pretenders.Gotta believe teams will bounce back this week.
Week 2 Schedule:
3-Sep Midlothian at Mansfield Timberview 7:00 PM
4-Sep Cedar Hill at Arlington Bowie 7:30 PM
4-Sep Duncanville vs Mesquite Horn 7:30 PM
4-Sep Grand Prairie vs Irving 7:30 PM
4-Sep Mansfield vs Hewitt Midway 7:30 PM
4-Sep South Grand Prairie at South Oak Cliff 7:30 PM
5-Sep DeSoto vs IMG Academy, FL 2:00 PM

Yes very well said. First game serves as an evaulator or measuring tool to see exactly where the team & personnel are. Strengths and weaknesses and areas that need to improve. Of course all is predicated on the level of competition and that's why coaches prefer to schedule a higher level of competition mixed in with one lower level, which will give a true fair assessment of the team. Areas to improve and progress in. Very unusual to find teams that come out and play a first game perfect game. So teams should see progress and improvement in the next two weeks.Leave a comment:

This about sums it up. Last year Skyline won 40 - 21. They had more of a passing game then. Their game is tough in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Good defense. Skyline kicker had a nice 43 FG and was excellent on deep kickoffs.
SGP had 5 penalties in the first series but cleaned it up after that. No punting issues like they had last year. Too many drops and a few over throws. Compared to early last year the SGP D looks improved. The missing piece on offense so far for SGP is what was missing for a stretch last year, their star WR Jaelen Austin now at TCU. Greg Eisworth is a top player bound for Ole Miss in January. He can run and has a gun for an arm. But the WRs need to step up. This said credit is due to the Skyline D. Eisworth is mobile but was a double edged sword in a Romoesque way.
Both teams had scores called back.
You always wait for that first game to see where things are at. Then they have you questioning weakness versus strengths in the outcome.
For SGP the next test is SOC who was pounded by CHIll 46 - 7. Followed by Martin and Abilene Cooper.
Skyline has Martin next, followed by CHill and Irving.

That is not that surprising. One surprise to me. I would have thought Mansfield would have done better. GP is not a good team, but neither is Haltom. Could have gone either way. The other games were about the level of opponent. Waxahachie is a good 5A program, so that is not surprising at all. Skyline is a very good team so that is not surprising. Arlington was a playoff team last season, Duncanville was not.
