    Officiating Blunder

I would bet that is a tough loss to take if you were on the wrong side of a decision like this.

Ok but why did the refs feel a untimed down was necessary. What happened?

Fenwick was up 10-7 with four seconds left and facing fourth down. They tried to run out the clock by having the quarterback throw a long pass to no one. He was correctly called for intentional grounding, but under NFHS rules this penalty should not have triggered an untimed down and the game should have been over.

Plainfield North used their untimed down to kick the tying field goal and then won in overtime.

That is really too bad for Fenwick. They have been quietly working their program back to respectability over the last few seasons. I hope losing this way doesn't set them back.
